haha, yep, I also have a love-hate relationship for clouds How far west do you recommend to go? But in the end we need clouds, but sometimes, they are just the worst thing that has happened all day and year for that matter Wouldn't life be good if it could only be cloudy during the day time and never during the night!?!?! Anyway, catch you all later and best of luck with the skies
Clear Skies,
Sebastien.

Ahar!! The clouds are clear and i had a good look at Jupiter and the moon. The moon was a fantastic bright... The light was too bright however that it projected the moon on my tee shirt when I got up. Saw some moons orbiting Jupiter it was worth all those mozzy bites... my brother will be posting some pics in a minute or two.
Clear skies,
Tony

Hi all how far west to travel the answer is over the ranges and more altitude is better.
Cheers Kev.

To the anti-point of Melbourne on this country. I believe that would be Exmouth, WA, which coincidentally also happens to be one of the sunniest places on this land. Must be the 4000km linear distance from the nearest Melbourne cloud slate-grey stratocumulus that is so famous to those whom inhabit the tundra of southern Victora.
Funnily enough, last 2 nights were clear, but you guessed it, I had work....and I get off on the 23rd and once again, you guessed it, at that instant the weather is supposed to turn to crap.

With the average annual cloud cover of Venus and average year-round surface temp of Pluto it is generally not found near the top of my list of 'likes'.

The nights are getting longer now , last night was the shortest night, but they are also more likely to be cloudy here.

Yea, I could feel how much longer it felt (if that makes any sense) when I was out tonight Till then, best of luck with the clouds
Sebastien.

In South East Queensland, summer clouds are natures way of preventing astronomers contracting mosquito borne viruses.

Actually, as it happens, your statement was correctly demonstrated the last 3 work nights (first 3 clear nights this Crapcember)... now that I'm off, and it's looking pretty overcast....

We in astronomy, unfortunately have to be patient when waiting for clear skies.
I'm hearin' ya.
The last three days here have been really clear during the day and as soon as dusk arrives so rolls in those &$^#%$#^% clouds.
Frustrating as it is.

I wouldn't mind the clouds so much if they produced a bit more rain
At the moment they are just trapping the heat in serving no useful purpose.

trapping the heat is a good thing. Nothing worse than waking up to a freezing ice cold morning like in Melbourne in our so called "summers", and that's WITH cloud

Haha, love it
To pgc Hunter, I wish you the BESST of luck for you and for anyone else living around your area with the cloud, it must be so frustrating!!!! 3 months to wait ?!?!!? I know I would be pretty annoyed Anyway, best of luck with the clouds and mosquitos (try using a product called Aeroguard ) anyway, once again best of luck to anyone who has to deal with clouds (I know that clouds, are now coming over Sydney )
So best of luck
CLEAR SKIES!!!!
Sebastien.
