Looking for moon phase images with white background

Hi,

I am putting together my Christmas pressie calendar for the family (a yearly calendar) and was wanting to put some images of the 4 main moon phases in the appropriate dates.
Does anyone know where i can locate some reasonable quality images or sketches with white backgrounds?
Thanks

Philip

Thinking obliquely, Photoshop/GIMP out the dark background from some regular pictures?

Take a full moon and cut in halves for 1st and 3rd quarters?

You could easily render something using povray and a lunar texture map, with alpha blending enabled.

Question, by white backgrounds, do you mean the area on the non-illuminated surface would be white too, or just the area surrounding the Moon?

OK, easier answer, install Virtual Moon Atlas. You can set the save background colour to white, turn off the labels, and generate images for any date Then just import the images into Photoshop to resize.

Oh, and you can flip the image too for different hemispheres.

Be sure to install and activate the high-resolution Clementine photographic textures for more visually pleasing results (second image).

Hi Philip,
feel free to play around with my images of the Moon phases if you want.

They have a dark background but you could change that I guess.
