lightning hitting the ground

Just shot this with my new lightning trigger which i got of Ebay. How cool is it to catch the lightning hitting the ground.

Lightning doesn't hit the ground. Postive (ground) goes upwards seeking negatively charged particles. The 2 meet in the air. Good shot though. Is the lightning device expensive?

That's neat. If you don't mind, which one and on what camera?

I can see one brand on ebay for around $US170. They do them for Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony.

Did you go and have a look at the ground where it struck!!???? I would have! Was it burnt? Was there any glass? Huh? Huh? Was there?

Hi Phil,

Wow! Such a lucky shot to have the sloping terrain there so you could see it
so clearly! You only have to look at the illumination on the surrounding trees
to appreciate how phenomenally bright it must have been a few meters away from
it. It would be interesting to try and locate the actual spot to see if there is any
sign that it struck.

First the lightning then the crack of the thunder. Let me tell you scared the crap out of me. Stilled stayed out and took other 190 shots. With a change of pants in order after the night.
