Tucana 47

My God it's full of stars.

Here's a nice test of the field flatness of the GSO RC.

Tucana 47 in LRGB. (30, 20, 20, 20 Minutes)

8" GSO RC, SBIG ST-10XME etc.

I'm really happy with the result. Will have to check the colour balance again when I'm not so tired.

Much larger image available here

Cheers
Stuart

Looks good Stuart. As for the field. It looks very good. Flat as the can mans hat.

Very nice, and the colour looks OK to.

Nice Stuart. Like you said colour balances needs a little look at, but overall this is nice. Stars are nicely formed.

Hi Paul,

Have a look at this one though. This shows the top right and bottom left of the sub. I had moved the camera to find a decent guide star, but when I tightened everything up I managed to tilt the camera.

Looks similar to the problems you've been having?

Cheers

It doesn't matter how many times I see 47, it's one of the most spectacular objects in the sky.

Really nice and deep, can almost get lost in the detail.

Stuart the field looks better at the corners than mine for sure. The stars still have a pinkish look to them though. Guiding is superb. What settings are you using with your OAG?

Hi Paul,

I tried to yellow out the stars, but I like it like this, personal preference I suppose.

As you know I use an AOL, this was one second guiding exposures, I don't use very aggressive guiding settings, about 6 on a scale of 1 to 10, I found if I go much higher it has a tendency to overcorrect, which is probably seeing induced.

Cheers
Stuart

Great job Stuart.
I've found that if I spend another half hour on setup I end up with better pics Alex. Focus is King, but sometimes it's hard to resist starting taking images when we finally get a clear night.

Thanks for all the encouragement, I really had a good night on Friday, everything seemed to work well. Now all I have to do is get some more data for the NGC1365 image I started.

Cheers
Stuart

Stuart nice Tucana I would suggest more yellow on the straglers and central blue stars than the reddish tone

Core well resolved
