For Sale Meade 14" f/10LX200-ACF OTA with UHTC

I have for sale a Meade 14” LX200R now (know as the ACF) optical tube assembly, the telescope was purchase in 2007 and since then been house in an observatory. It has been rarely used in that time and is in exceptional condition and the Mirror Lock does work.

Meade14" f/10LX200-ACF has some of the following specifications;

·Advanced Coma Free optical design combines a hyperbolic secondary mirror with a corrector-lens-and-spherical-primary-mirror combination that performs as one hyperbolic element.

·The Meade 14" provides 356mm of clear aperture, 3556mm focal length and operates at f/10 focal ratio with a maximum practical visual power of 850X.

·Resolving power .... 0.321 arc sec

·Water white glass corrector plate and precision ground pyrex primary mirror with Ultra High Transmission Coatings (UHTC).

· The Meade 14" incorporates design features such as progressive tension primary mirror lock, and ability to work with a zero image shift micro-focuser.

The asking price is $4500 + Freight and is not negotiable, so please don’t ask. The telescope comes with the following accessories; Losmandy 14” Dovetail (fitted), Meade 8x50 Finder and Bobs Knob (unfitted). The total package would cost you well over $6000 new.

Hi all

I have the same telecope as "arafura" the "LX200R" before it was changed to "LX200ACF". Also looks like I will need to match price with him but please note I live in Eastern Australia so shipping will be much cheaper, alternatively you can pick the telescope up personally from my home.

Hi Anthony,
am I correct that the SCT is on a EQ6? How is the mount coping with that giant?
Definitely more manageable than my big Cass. project though
What is the scope star-test like?
I'm not in a position to make an offer just curious...

Good luck.
Mick.

I have collimated this telescope by using a webcam and the software "Metaguide". Got the telescope to a point that "Metaguide" would displayed a diffraction patten which is common to commercially avaliable SCT. So I would say that the telescope passed a star-test base on my reading of "Star Testing Astronomical Telescopes by H Suiter"

The scope is currently on a EQ6, the plan was to upgrade the mount later on. I have now decide to change direction and down grade my ambtions. I would very much like to see it go to a good home.

14" on EQ6! I thought I was ambitious with an 11" SCT on my EQ6!

**Dreams of one day having a 14" scope for imaging...
