Help, re Vista and Sky6

Help!
I just installed the SKY6 Pro onto my Vista (ver home) laptop. When I try to connect the Sky & Orchestrate after having made a script I get the message (from both) "Error connecting the sky address family not supported by protocol family error code 10047 (0x273f) " When I ran this on my previous laptop with XP I had no problems connecting and running scripts. I sent to Software Bisque and their reply noted it is a Vista issue and to turn off User Accsess Control, but it is already turned off. Any ideas on how I can get the SKY6 and Orchestrate talking under Vista or should I install Windows 7?

Thanks for any help.

Peter i'd go windows 7 - it is far more "xp" software friendly than vista.

Peter - right click on the main executable and select properties. Click on the compatibility tab. Run the program in XP mode and also as administrator. See how that goes. You could even try doing this, running the program once, turning it all back off and seeing if it fixes the issue.

As a side note - that is a disgusting answer from Software Bisque. UAC should never be turned off, it's there for a reason. How about they get off their you know whats and right software that is designed to work with the O/S properly? That's what I'll be saying to them if I have this issue when I get Sky6. Note - maxim DL had no issues.

Hi David & Dave,

Thanks indeed for the responses. I tried the Windows compatability but still got the same error codes. I already had UAC turned off also for The Starlight Xpress camera as it would only work that way. The Sky 6 works fine with Vista it just won't talk to Orchestrate, which I need to do scripting. Software Bisque have always fantastic in their assistance and support, though I think I will upgrade to Windows 7.
Thanks again
PeterM.

Hi Rally,
Yep that is a potential issue though I am hoping Win7 has better access for XP programmes. Seems I don't have much choice as installing XP backwards on my Compaq Vista laptop may have multiple driver issues that don't seem to have been resolved by others.
Thanks
PeterM.

Very odd Peter - I have yet to see an application not run in Vista. OK, try this. Uninstall the applications in question. Reboot computer. Log in as administrator (not your usual account). Install the applications. See if they work. If so, log on as your normal user and test. Use compatibility mode if needed.

Thanks Dave,
Just tried that and same error message as original. Am sending request to Software Bisque to see if likely to be compatable with Win7 premium.
Thanks again
PeterM.

Hi Peter

I got the same problem on my desktop.
Luckily the desktop is not being used to control the scope / camera.

Thanks Brendan,
That is interesting. I am installing Win7 Pro with the XP connectivity so will let you know how that goes.
