David I did not mean for my name or message to show guess I should read the little descriptions before I fill in the box . Folks if you want to remain anonymous dont fill in the nickname and message box. I thought only Travis got those. Still a very good cause which I am more then happy to support.

So should someone warn the guys at the school of physics Uni that a big order for their galileoscopes is on its way. Would hate for them to run out.

Just some rambling thoughts to chew over?
I reckon those Philips Planispheres awould be suitable, they're made of plastic and will last forever ( I know York optical used to sell them)
Also a selection of beginners books for a small "star library" at the cottage? Nothing too complicated, but a good variety for all the children to share and learn from (including some IIS 2009 Compendiums).
What about Telrads? Would they be of any use on each scope? Easier for kids to use?

Already on it
I was at the uni earlier today to pick up 2 for myself and they had boxes there.
I have already emailed Adam this afternoon and spoke to Alex today about this cause (which she is very pleased we are doing). Although they did receive an order of 50 scopes the other day. So we gotta be quick
Will get the order form organised and sent off to Astro78 so he can fill out and arrange for delivery
Rob.

Rob, that was great you getting on to that so quick and giving Adam and Alex the heads up about our pending order.

Gy at Bear Cottage asked has me to pass the following to you all:
Hello all!
What has started off as a great idea from Travis has now become something amazing and exciting.
I would just like to say a very big THANK YOU to all that have helped out. You all have done so much more than you will ever know for the families, not only providing enjoyment from looking at the skies but allowing families to spend quality time together and creating memories that will last forever.
Many thanks!
Gy (Play therapist)

In due course, we'd love to see some photos of children enjoying the gear, thanks Travis.

A most worthy cause and my donation has just been made.
Congratulations to all on Ice in Space who have been so generous, and a special word of praise to Travis for bringing this to all of our attention.
Having had friends who lost their 2 year old daughter to cancer a few years ago I witnessed first hand what wonderfully caring and beautiful people are that make Bear Cottage what it is, a peaceful and tranquil place for families to spend precious time with their young ones prior to losing them.
Again well done to all.
Wayne

Great idea
I reckon it would be good for IIS to make a road trip one night to Bear cottage as well.
We could all bring our scopes and Alex (mental4astro) can bring his photon cannon .

Are there similar facilities in the other states? We are after all from everywhere and the box seems pretty big.
