Sun sparks to life

Over the last week the Sun sparked into life. A large prom plumed from the NE while a filament appeared toward the south with a little brother above it.

Very nice images!

Could you please give some detail about your modified scope, besides the Baader D-ERF 90mm filter, what else needs to be done to achieve this?

Thanks Folks/Muchas gracias.

Remember - any mods to your PST will void its warranty and is done at your own risk.
Matt - the initial mod involves taking the gold tube from the PST leaving the etalon & box. The key then is to make sure that the etalon is 200mm in front of the focal point. eg My scope is F=900mm so I put the etalon (and box) at 700mm from the objective ie F-200mm. This distance must remain constant so the focuser is locked down and focusing is done via the PST knob. As regards safety there must be an Energy rejection filter in front of the objective (Baader D-ERF is good) and a blocking filter before the eyepiece (the PST box has one or some people have removed the box altogether and used say a BF10). F/10 refractors are most suitable as the incoming beam is close to parallel entering the etalon. Anyway theres loads of info on the www jsut google PST mod. Hope this helps.
