My new Pentax XW 10 mm

I ordered this eyepiece from
http://www.kkohki.com/English/kkohkiparts.html
on Friday and got it today first thing in the morning. It was probably sitting somewhere over the weekend, but the good thing is its here. Funny thing is I could track it in Japan all the way (EMS) but once left Japan that was it. Tracking in Australia is a joke, you can "track" it once you got it, so much for service here.

This eyepiece doesn't need introduction. But I was very surprised when I got the box 'cos it was so big. First I thought they sent me wrong eyepiece. The box was twice as big as from Bintel with my 17 mm Nagler. Very well packed, and nice touch from the kkohki sending it in their bag.

Price wise, its cheaper than buying it locally for more than $100
I payed all together $450 dollars when our dollar was 0.82 USA.

If I opted to go with XW 7mm I would've saved more than $300 dollars than buying locally.

It has its own plastic case, very well built and eyepiece is secured inside with matching foam around it.

Nagler doesn't come with plastic case, only black box, the one on top of Pentax box on the first pic.

I took the picture of this eyepiece next to my 17 mm Nagler so you can see how big it is. Very nice finish, very impressive looking eyepiece.
Can't wait to test it, but as it usually happens the clouds are here
It looks so good that I'll put it next to TV till weather improves

cheers

bob

Congrats on the new addition, the xw14 was my first premium EP purchase and remains my favourite EP. I'm hoping for some clear weather too

The XW series are very sweet. Heaps of contrast and very sharp views. Easily the best EP's in my kit.

Thanks guys!
Just an hour ago I couldn't resist when I saw clouds clearing around Jupiter a bit. Quickly I took my 12" dob out and put my new XW in it. Even though clouds were coming and going the view was stunning. FOV is really big, it took a while for Jupiter to go across. Had quick look at Jewel Box, very nice. FOV is almost as big as 2" 17mm Nagler if not the same!

I am very pleased already

I bought one of these eyepieces as well whilst in Japan 3 weeks ago from the same shop. Excellent eyepiece and fantastic service from Barry! Definitely a keeper the EP is very comfortable to use...
