Well i have only had one go at processing this so far - this is my first attempt at processing this amount of data and trying to get a result that looks pleasing to me anyway. taken with the 20D modded canonand my 135mm L lens at f3.5 iso 800, guided with 1ponders toucam and framed to get the cross and as much of the coal sack as i could. 3 hours and 20 minutes worth of dark skies - well worth the trip.
ok stacked in Deep sky stacker and processed with PixInsight1.5 photoshop used to make is small for web
A superb portrait of this really photogenic region. It’s as sharp as can be – that 135mm L glass must be good! Not to mention the skills of the owner, operator and processor!
thats a nice image h0ughy, i would be well pleased with that

Good star colours and interesting framing allowing you to get both crux and coal sack.
Must've had a blast up at Astrofest !

thanks for the praise, but it was Paul that put me onto the framing and EddieT with the pixinsight help - still need to work on it though, i feel like the coal sack could be more pronounced
there is one thing i learned - always and i mean always, check your focus before starting any new target....... i lost a whole nights data, mind you though i captured 52 gig of data while i was there
Well done! This almost looks 3D to me. It might be the way it's presented. Anyway, for me, that is a hallmark of a great image -- one where I want to reach in and touch it.
I would prefer it a little brighter, but, that's just a personal preference.
