4GB ram on a 32 bit system won't caues instability. My guess is that one of the memory modules is dodgy. You'll only see around 3GB or so..

You are probably right. I have corsair dominator 1333 in my desktop and I clearly remember reading the warning in the instructions which is why I installed the 64 bit system. The techs at the shop where I bought all the bits and pieces also told me that 32 bit vista could only see 3.2 gig of ram so I would be wasting my time getting any more if I intended using vista 32. Perhaps the boffins can tell you why.
