Modern tools Ron, and ancient ideals. Sometimes I don't believe that we have really come all that far as a species over the last 2000 years.

We haven't, Chris. That's why the world's in the mess it's in.
Anyway, what if it was anti-religious to have a go at this sort of silliness. What's so wrong about that. This "tread carefully, lest you upset their sensibilities" nonsense is just that...nonsense. Yes, everyone has a right to believe in what they like, but when you see that what is being believed is nothing more than a load of rubbish and nothing more than superstitious fantasy, then you have every right to come out and say so. If these people were so sure of their own faith and sure of its ultimate validity, it wouldn't matter what you said. It shouldn't even concern or upset them. They should know better and just ignore you. The reason why people get on their high horses over religion and start slanging matches, fights and wars is despite all the rhetoric and bluster, and their professions of faith, deep down they're not so sure themselves. They don't want their cosy little worlds to come tumbling down and their lives supposedly invalidated by the questioning and/or loss of their cherished notions. Just goes to show you how insecure they really are.

Thanks Carl, I only threw that in at the last moment in case someone starts asking the thread to be banned as it was a anti religion post

Was there really any need to post this? If you think about it, how is it any different to people believing in horoscopes, crystal skulls, wire pyramids, etc., which all go on in modern countries, too?
No offence intended, Ron, but, even though you mentioned it's not an anti-religion post, it still incites inflammatory responses which realistically have no place on this forum.

This is what I find so interesting about people - some people insist on having the right to their views and freedoms, etc, but then ALSO insist that as part of their rights, they can impose upon others to NOT have their own views which might contradict etc. This inability to simply let others say their bit is amazing. If people don't like something, don't read it! Walk away. Spank your inner moppet. Whatever.
Just because someone might get upset is not a reasonable reason imho. Grow a thicker skin. Ignore it.

Hi Dave,
I insist on nothing. Freedom of speech is fine, but, is this posting absolutely necessary? In my eyes, no. YMMV.

It is only inflammatory if you choose to make it so

Funny story.
We could use a few of those fellas in amongst the Aussie supporters at the Oval for the 5th test...playing their trumpets.
Just dress them in green and gold....and away they go!
No offence intended. Just enjoying a little mirth.

I think they have their country's best interests at heart and as long as they don't shove their beliefs down anyone else's throat I think they are entitled to their way of seeing things, just like we're entitled to ours.
I also think science vs. religion is stupid. Us and them.

I recall a story from the Old Testament about some bloke who walked round a walled city blowing trumpets until the walls fell down. I would have though with that in mind one would be a bit reluctant to start blowing trumpets in an aircraft .
"This is your captain speaking. Our wings have just dropped off. Thank's rabbi!"
