I use a couple of towels to absorb moisture and ten compost bag over the top. Cost about $12 and is fantastic. Prior to that I used to use a small tarp over the towels. Unless the weather looks bad the gear stays up all week. The ground if nice and firm so tripod sinking as never been a problem for me with either the G11 or G8.

Yeah you'd definitely leave the gear setup the whole time you're there unless it looked like the weather was going to kick up rough..
Paul - Where abouts did you buy those compost bags? They look the goods! Like robin, I use a BBQ cover, and whilst it works, they do get brittle and they aren't exactly the best size and shape for the job..

I bought some rip stop tent fly material and whipped a cover up, I chose silver to reflect the heat of the day.
As for Lat/long, here's a google earth KMZ file for Duckadang, you can get the Lat/Long from there and have a satellite view of the camp. The pin is dangerously close to where Ponders parks his tent, a place to avoid as the ambient noizzzzze levels can be quite high ...

You must be confusing me with my English gentleman friend in the next tent Phil. I'm sure Dennis sleeps with a chainsaw with the throttle stuck on some days.

As for Scope covers, this year we shall be having some heavy duty wheelie-bin liners for sale at only $2.00 each. They are about 1.2m x x1.5m in size, so should do most Cat scopes up to about 10". Buy them at the Committee House (Registration). Also available will be light-red, medium-red, and ND filters in various sizes for computer screens and monitors up to 17", and also for torches and lights. Prices from 50cts to $5.00, depending on size. For the first time, this year we have self-adhesive LCD protectors for DSLRs. which can be made up in varying neutral densities, to prevent light pollution from screens whilst imaging. They are $6.00, and are re-useable.

All booked in for Wednesday on
The wife and kids will unfortunately be staying home, but on the plus side, it leaves more room in the car for gear.
