I know another lagoon nebula but with the little time available to me at the moment I have to image items I know without too much fuss. These are allowing me to practice and hone my processing skills as the wide field are a little diferent to some degree.
The image is an uncalibrated stack of 8 X 15 minute exposures captured with QHY8, Tak FSQ106ED at F5. Processing using IP3 and PS CS3.
Something wrong there Hager, the file is big, but the image is small on the link. It looks OK in PS when zoomed, but perhaps you could change the image properties so that the link view is bigger?. (BTW, the core looks a bit burnt?)

Hi Fred the linked view is still only 1024 X 690 but is a 100% saved JPG instead of the 50% JPG of the IIS image.
Yes the core is a bit burnt out.
Here is a link to a bigger sample. About 1.5MB 3000 X 2000 pix 67% saved JPG for you Fred.
Very nice image. FSQ106ED puts the fun into imaging.
It would have been nice to move the Lagoon a bit over to the left so you got that other nebula on the right hand side (I forget the NGC number) fully in the image - that always looks nice.
That is getting closer to what I would expect from your gear Doug
I hope you don't mind and I know fiddling with other peoples images often actually wrecks them buuuuut it shows so much potential I had to have a play with it and I came up with a slightly different view. I just thought the stars could be a bit tighter, the colour was a bit red and white with a green tinge and I prefer this orientation..wadgya think? It's still not quite right but I recon it's a pretty good image!

You have some minor focus issues there too, how are you focusing?
Let me know when you have seen enough and I'll delete it from my web site
Mike
Thanks Mike and no I don't mind at all. A bit of feedback on how you arrived at your final image would be great. They look pretty good to me and when pointed out the oversites and things lacking etc are glaringly obvious. Focus at the moment has been a major issue. High fine cloud and even smoke from my own fire place is making focus an issue that I somehow have to overcome. Seems of late the best FWHM figures I can achieve are around the 5 to 6 mark. Being surrounded by quite high mountains does pose it's own atmospheric problems with regard to focus but the dark sky is a big plus. Thanks Mate.

Mikes repro version looks good as well.

Thanks David. Focus is my main issue but I will work through it some how.

Kind of like the high res version for these wider shots as it shows a bit more of the true detail captured. Thanks Marc
