It's upside down Miss Jane!

Mr Squiggle turns 50 today!

However, I was sad to read in Wikipedia:-

Jane Fennell was an Australian TV presenter before a car accident caused her serious facial injuries and ended her career.
She became famous via the children's television program Mr. Squiggle and Friends (1959) as Miss Jane. She is the daughter of Australian actor Willie Fennell[1] and grew up in Sydney, Australia. After the car accident, she became close to Australian actor John Ewart, who was a close friend of her father, and whom she had known since she was 15. Jane and John became engaged in 1992 but postponed the wedding due to the death of Jane's father. Two years later, they married in a bedside ceremony as John lay dying from oesophagus cancer. Jane became a widow just nine hours after the wedding.

Sorry, I found the answer....

Miss Gina 1959-1960 (Gina Curtis)
Miss Pat 1960-1975 (Patricia Lovell) - Went on to produce Gallipoli
Miss Sue 1975 (Sue Lloyd)
Miss Jane 1975-1986 (Jane Fennell)
Roxanne Kimmorley 1986-1989 (they dropped the "Miss", although "Miss Roxanne" does sound good!)
....

I stopped watching Mr. Squiggle after that!

Re Miss Pat - Wikipedia is my friend:-

Mr. Squiggle was helped by a human female assistant in all the show's incarnations; they included Miss Gina (Gina Curtis), Miss Pat (Pat Lovell), Miss Jane (Jane Fennell), and later series featured Roxanne (Roxanne Kimmorley) and Rebecca (Rebecca Hetherington, Hetherington's daughter).

Hi
Just a little note on oesophagus cancer. My partner was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer in 2003 when she could not swallow and brought everything up if she tried. We went to the local GP who refered us to the specialist who in turn had a surgeon doing the removal of the oesophagus. The tests took about a week and the diagnosis was removal of the oesphagus or she would be dead in a few weeks. She was 81 at the time.

She agreed to the surgery with about a 25% survival rate. They put her in Westmead hospital immediately. She was in intensive care for three weeks and hospital for another six weeks. She fully recovered (the specialist thought she was wonderful). She is now 87 and had a little trouble a few weeks ago but it was only scar tissue which has been removed in a couple of day surgeries. She is a surviver!

Lightbulb Loved his pencil!

Oh, Miss Jen....
All I remember is the deep voice of Blackboard and the brash words of; "Hurry Up, Hurry Up!" when ever the pictograph wasn't place on him.
Also I can recall, Mr Squiggle was the "Man From the Moon", but I can't recall which crater he lived in. Can anyone remember that?

Thanks for sharing that with us Barry.
It must have been an awful time for both of you. Emotionally and physically.
So glad that the latest hiccup with her health was relatively minor.
She's a lucky lady to have such a caring partner.

Thanks for this. I'd had forgotten it all, but the brain cells still recall a little about it, and now the penny has dropped! Now, being much older, how utterly appropriate and imaginative. I suppose it was my first science fiction series I'd ever watched, and I think it was on around 4pm or 4.30pm on ABC TV. (Ie. The Programme Guide for Sunday 30th March 1969. See http://www.televisionau.com/tv300369.htm .

Also you can look at other programs (and the closing times) in various years at; http://www.televisionau.com/tvguide.htm

... and of course Mr Squiggle's theme tune and lyrics;

"Here’s Mr Squiggle,
With lots of fun for everyone
Here’s Mr Squiggle, sing a happy tune
You can see we’re as happy as can be !
Mr Squiggle, the man from the moon.
"

There is of course the other friendly, but sometimes quite mischievous characters too, like the cute kind of dopy Gus the Snail, and of course Bill Steamshovel will the crazy laugh plus steam. I can now even remember Soud the Gardener.

Oh those wonderful Halcyon days indeed!
(Why did I ever grow up?)
