Just make sure it wireless and works on a PC (some are just for the Playstation), that's the main point. I use one called 'Thrustmaster Run'N'Drive Wireless 3 in1 Rumble Force' which I got in France last year for about 35 bucks in Carrefour. I just call it the 'Thrustmaster' - I love that name.

Most of them work just fine. I have even used the USB guitar from Guitar hero to control the mount.

I use the PC version of Logitech gamepad - wireless version. Both Peter_4059 and I purchased them at the same time and have had no problems with them. Work a good distance from the laptop and have a great number of button functions under EQMOD but make sure you have a mini-label device to wtite all the functions on the gamepad.

I use the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2. This seems to work quite well. I paid $55 for it from Tandy (late last year).

Out of curiosity what are the advantages or reasons to use a wireless gamepad with EQmod?

Only thing I can think of is where you need to align on a star using the EQmod controller. I reckon I have had mixed results with EQmod (seems to just stop tracking occasionaly and also throw a wobbly near the Northern merridian) but given I am a gamer and have a wirless Logitech rumble pad II here maybe I should hook it up - I just need to know why I should be hooking it up

EQMOD works best when you get rid of the standard hand controller and connect the laptop directly to the mount.
If you use the standard hand controller to move the mount while you have your laptop connected via the hand controller it can get confused, and stop tracking etc.

Wireless is good, because otherwise you would have another cable to trip over (from the laptop to the hand controller)
