Snow Capped Warmth

Another sunset image which I made along the drive to Lake Tekapo.

Although it was quite cold, as evidenced by the snow on the mountains, I couldn't help but feel warmth flood throughout me inspired by the beauty of the scene around me.

In the large format print, a lot of detail is present that is not immediately discernible in this web-resolution image. Visible are the subtle sky and cloud colours, as is detail in the peaks of the mini rapids in the river towards middle left, reflections of the orange clouds in the water down in the bottom left and in the foliage all through the bottom.

Slightly larger version here.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1s f/16.0 at 40.0mm iso100

Comments and critique are most welcome.

Regards,
Humayun

That would make a fantastic poster sized print to hang on a wall! After a hectic day you could just gaze at it and chill out

Lovely sunset, What is the river in the scene. Ahariri or Twizel River. Lovely part of New Zealand around this area. I fish these rivers quite a bit and an image like this makes me want to get back on a plane.

Doug,

Cheers! I'm not entirely sure what river it is. I'm not even sure of the location. It was before reaching Omarama (I think). About 1.5-2 hours out of Lake Tekapo? Might be worth my while Google Earth'ing it up.
