OK Guys I know you are all sick of this one, but I had to come back to imaging with something, and just imaged this because I could, I intend to go elsewhere, and deeper when the clouds part one day.
Anyway I did 24 frames @4Mins, at 400ISO, through the Tak and Modded 5D, on the G11 auto guided, flats and darks applied, and processed in Image Plus, and CS2 for some levels.
The first is a single raw frame, one of 24 images, and the second is the 24 frames aligned and combined for the final image.
Nice image of Eta Leon. I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing images of it.
The single raw frame looks excellent in my opinion. There is a lot more detail and depth in the single raw frame compared to the stacked version. I guess it could be personal preference in how you like your images to look. However I think you can bring out more in the stacked image. It is kinda hard to tell from these small images though. Just a thought.
I'll never get sick of Eta Carina Leon.
It's a beautiful region of our skies. I love seeing each interpretation that is posted here.
I do agree with Matty, when you compare the single frame to the final image, there has to be more detail lurking in there.
Thanks for posting.
Many thanks guys, yes it is time to get back into it, it has been a while, it is an clear and cold night tonight so i expect to have something to show tomorrow if the clouds stay away.
I think the look of the single sub has more impact, slide the left red level in a bit in PS and up add some green and blue to remove that overall red/magenta cast and it looks pretty dramatic.
Thanks Mike and Doug, but as I mentioned that first frame is a single raw that comes directly out of the modded 5D, the other one is 24 of these combined.
However I will have a go with your suggestions and post it later next to the ones in the first post
Love the colours in the sub. Don't know why your stack doesn't look similar in colour balance but with extra detail and less noise. Look forward to the reprocessed version.
Graig, thank you, the sub will always look this way as it is a Raw Image with as Modified Canon 5D, the subs of any object will have that Magenta look about it.
The Stacked Raw subs turn out with a different colour cast, after being processed in Image Plus, and finally tweaked in PS2, or similar program.
Hear is a single Raw frame of the Trifid and Lagoon Neb, and one of the Helix Neb you will see what I mean.
Have you tried converting your RAWs to TIFFS then stacking those. My subs have much the same colour balance as the stack. Might be an interesting experiment.
Craig, yes mate I do convert to Tiff, then align and combine in Image Plus, do a digital development, plus other procedures and finally tweak in PS2.
I was just showing what my Raws looked like straight from the camera, which I expect is the same as most modded cameras.
