Yeah, "Cloudbourne" seems right. When it's clear, you "have to" rush to get set up, the instant you setup, must get a viewing, get maybe 10-15 minutes in, then the low lying speckled cloud rolls in.

I've noticed, it can be up to 3 hours of cloud, then all of a sudden, it disappears and it's back to great clean skies. What the.....
Just drove home from work, and I swear I could smell smoke. The bloody DSE are at it once again 100 bucks says they'll single handedly ruin the potentially clear weekend YET AGAIN FOR THE 4th BLOODY TIME IN A ROW

I've had countless experiences when just after setting up, the famous Melbourne cloud rolls in, Melbourne style.

What a disaster, is it possible to have an even worse place on the planet for observing?

Upon seeing or hearing those letters "DSE", I am reaching for the sedatives

Clear this afternoon, no work, and NO SMOKE from that wretched no-good DSfrigginE. First time I've seen a BLUE sky in months!!!!!!!

However, I'm certain it'll get nice n foggy well before the scope is even half cooled....

Yeah, best it's been for a few days.

But that dew will roll in, it got me last time, had to wipe the EP every few minutes it was that bad.
No dew zappers/heaters here yet, maybe a project over the Winter to make these things.

Shuttle 'might' land tonight, if you are feeling inquisitve, look to the direct North around 11:05pm to 11:13pm local time.
Very very low around 5 degrees, that is if you have a good view North.
You might get a glimpse of it circling maybe on it's last or 2nd last lap.

EDIT: There is some bad weather at KSC, they might the landing.

yeah that dew will be here before I even stick an eyepiece into the focuser......but the scope's mirrors seem to come out unscathed even after a few hours under the worst dew. I keep my eyepieces in a wooden box when outside.

Don't think transparency will be sensational today, lots of brown crud on the horizon. Remnants of the DSE's dirtywork I guess...
