Gday Phil and Rajah,
Its good to see you on here, I just wanted to talk to some locals to find out where there could be some good observing locations, I found one the other night which is located up Jamberoo pass and you turn right into where the Repeaters are (Big Flashing Antenna's on top of Robertson) just beside that it was pitch black and i was surprised at how many stars i could see, It was amazing,
Also Rajah, From what i seen it was tonight that the Astronomy Meeting was on in Unanderra, So hoping that its right ill be attending and hope to meet a few of you and have a good chat, Oh by the way i live down here in Warilla, Thanks for your reply guys, Aaron

Laurie, Mate thanks to all of you for being so welcoming, i sure did have a great time, Its good to see a little community of people that are passionate about Astronomy, I had become a little confused while you were talking about Telescope sizes and pieces but all in good time ill learn to understand it all, So i cant wait for the next meeting in which ill become a member but before then you will most certainly see me at the observation night and im looking forward to it, Once again thanks to everyone and talk to you all soon, Aaron

Hi all,
I am in much the same boat as Aaron. I am located in Albion Park and love having a go at the ATM side of this hobby. However, I don't think I am getting as much from it as I could be and could definitely benefit from the wise words of the more experienced in the local area. How do I go about becoming a WAAC member.
Steve

G'day Steve,
Mate i just attended the WAAC monthly meeting last night, I can tell you they are all a great fun bunch of people and from what i have gathered the best way to become a member is to just turn up at the meeting held the first thursday of every month at the Unanderra Community Centre on the main road, They also have regular observation nights in a location along swamp road, Jamberoo, I have not yet purchased a Telescope though i have the money ready to go i thought the best thing to would be attend an observation night, Take a look through other members scopes and see which one i like, So their next Observation night will be Saturday the 16th of May and ill be attending to have a look, Feel free to turn up and have a look, Also if you would like to get in contact directly with the club, Please find there website below
http://www.users.bigpond.com/paul.b/
Also they have a yahoo group which they talk to each other and organise observation nights, have monthly astrophotography competitions to see who can get the most mind blowing photo and well the link is below and there is alot on there to look at and read, Just register and you will soon start talking to people and learning more about astronomy
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/groups/waacers
I hope this helps and hope to talk to you again soon, Aaron
