Gum 17 in Vela
Hi All
Gum 17(RCW33) is an emission nebula and situated in the Constillation of Vela and It's distance is estimated at 1383ly with a size of 38ly makes for a great target to image.
In this image we see the very large Gum 17 with the 4.5 mag cluster (Trumpler 10) and the 12 mag cluster (NGC 2671)and emission nebula Gum 15 to the left.
To the lower left of centre we see the tiny 3'Planetary nebula K2-15 and left of that again we can see Gum 18.

fantastic Louie, the gum neb looks great but that planetary caught my eye is that GUM15 to the right? I like the colours in that and the dark lane!

David,Yes mate Gum 15 to the lower far right...one of my favourite objects in Vela.
