Smile Radio Astronomy

Hello Everyone,
Is there anyone out there who is interested in Radio Astronomy?. I have some software and books that I purchased from the US some time ago as I wanted to set up a radio astro system but never got around to setting somthing up. I hope to do so one day, and every time I do think about it I get stuck on the problem of what size dish do I need and would a decent radio scanner do the job. I do know that to observe the hydrogen line you need a reciever that can pick up (I believe it is 1420 mhz) signal, and a large dish. Is there anyone on the forum interested in this subject?.
Cheers,
Wombat

I dabbled in the simple side of homebrew antennas and radio astronomy some time ago. I too, left it for other projects.

absolutely interested

maybe we should have a forum section for radio astronomy

and its not just hydrogen line at 1420 MHz there is also mm wavelengths and LF and VLF work for jupiter and earth working too!

also things like meteor scatter, moon bounce and aurora all have radio interests in astronomy

there is quite an active deep sky network too where the amateurs are even supporting NASA's STEREO A and B reception and data collection programme.

All in all quite a lot going on in the radio spectrum regards astronomy
