Lagoon rough LRGB attempt

Hi,

here is a very bodgy LRGB attempt on the Lagoon
Neb last night.
Seeing was good at times but varied quite a bit.
The Lum shot has quite good detail but I've lost
a bit of it in the colour version.
I'm a hopeless beginner at LRGB so any advice would be
appreciated!

I used a 10 pc blend on R, G, and B.compared to the Lum.
Comments good and bad, advice welcome!

Steve

Hey Steve,

Don't ask me, I cant take DSO pics at all, but hey, I like the funky 70's disco lighting effects in the second one!

Nice purple

Over to the experts....BEGIN!

Cheers

Chris

Steve, I have recently found out that you do not need your IR/UV filter when taking the RGB (I am assuming you are using the supplied RGB filters that came with the DSI PRO II from Meade?).
This might help with the apparent loss of detail from the RGB. That is, taking full subs per colour channel without the filter.

Paul, I was wondering the same thing a few weeks back until a few
people put me straight.
You do seem to need the IR filter in combination with the RGBs because
the RGBs all have a second spike of response up in the IR which needs
to be blocked.
If you read this thread:
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=40456

.....Merlin, from the UK, has a spectral response
curve set for the Meade filters he can PM to you.

hope this helps,

Steve

Don't knock it until you try it Fred!

I'd be the last bloke to give you advice about imaging DSOs
but this approach seems to work ok for the DSI when coupled to
a decent light bucket.
Lots of frames....lots of darks....good seeing and good tracking.
A spillover from my modded webcam years I suppose.
Extracting every last bit from the terrible histogram.
This Lagoon is not a good example...but this
is what I got this morning with better seeing:
