ps mid-night is actually 1am eastern australian time due to daylight savings :-)

hehe true. Actually opposition isn't at midnight anyway.

Starry Night Pro has difficulty telling me the exact date/time and distance for opposition for some reason.

Astronomy 2009 Yearbook has opposition on 9th March 6am EST.

Yeh I'd read something like 8th March 1900 GMT somewhere else, and given 6am is daylight for us, then any time on the 8th or 9th March is good enough
