Thanks for the shots.
The Channel Country is some of the most magnificent landscape in Australia
to fly over and its vastness is always a reminder of the futility of European
explorers such as Burke and Wills, who set off plodding through it on horse and
by foot.
It's one of those places where you know if the plane should come down
without a locater beacon, then they may not find you any time soon!
The rainbow around the shadow of the aircraft is called "The Glory"
and I first remember reading an article describing the physics
behind it in Scientific American in 1974.
Ever since then I have looked out for it and observed it quite a lot.
