Ant Club

Here's a couple of shots of some Jumping Ants that made their presence felt the other day at work (never mind the aggro!!)
Luckily I had my camera & kit with me
Canon 40D, Tamron 90mm Macro & canon ringflash

C&C welcome
Bryan

Hi Ron we call them "Inchmen" down here because they are usually about an inch long.

When they bite you really know about it, nasty little beggars.

Top shots Bryan,

Love the detail, if only my car had the same power to weight ratio.

Nicely captured, hope you didn't get bitten in the exercise.

We call them Jackjumpers down here, ours are about 15mm long; our inchman is a larger slower ant and doesn't jump. You can usually see them on the ground because their pincers are quite a light brown as you've captured. Don't know about your species but our jackjumpers will deliberately head for you from metres away to bite.
