Reduced: Astronomy Books

Needing to thin out my collection of astronomy/cosmology books a little due to overflowing bookcases.

Items for sale are as follows:

1. The Search for Infinity: Solving the Mysteries of the Universe
(Fraser, Lillestol, Sellevag, with intro by Stephen Hawking, hardcover, 144 pages)
A good introduction to astrophysics and particle physics which does not require a heavy science background to understand. Very good use of graphics to explain things. Explains the established facts & theories, and also summarise many of the key discoveries and evidence uncovered along the way. Having purchased and read lots of astronomy books last year, I still need to thin my library and reduce overlap.
$20 plus postage.

2. Pushing Gravity: New Perspectives on Le Sage’s Theory of Gravitation
(Edited by Matthew R. Edwards, softcover, 316 pages)
This book is a collation of scientific theories on push-based (rather than attraction based) gravity. Some of the sections are a little difficult to follow, but it is a good historical account of the rise, fall, and modest rise again of push gravity theories. Edwards’ own theories are also presented in the book. Although I don’t agree with them, some are thought provoking and it was an interesting read.
$10 plus postage.

Please send a PM if interested.

Cheers,
Jeff

First published in 2002. I purchased and read last year during the mega-thread discussing/speculating on the underlying mechanisms of gravity.

Pushing Gravity is sold.

The Search for Infinity is still available.
Reducing to $15 plus postage. This book is a well explained and well illustrated introduction to Astrophysics & Particle Physics for beginner to intermediate level readers.

Cheers,
Jeff
