2 Hrs 20 mins of Rosette Neb

Hi Guys, well I know there has been quite a few rosette's floating around, so I will contribute this one as well.

For the first time it is my intention to do another run tonight, and collect some more data and add it to last nights effort, so hopefully I will have at least another 10-12 frames to add to this lot, we will see.

Anyway this image is the result of 20 exposures @ 7 mins each @ 400 ISO, through the Tak and Modded 5D, auto guided on the G11, flats and ICNR on, and processed in Image Plus, and PS2.

Please comment, either way, hope you like it.

PS, if this image looks a bit off it is because i had to process it on the Lappy as my main computer is down and waiting for a new Monitor, well that is my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

Leon

Leon, excellent framing, guiding and focus. Colour looks good as well.

That said, I'd say you are now being hamstrung by your DSLR. Nearly two and a half hours of data did not reap a really great S/N ratio.

You could try longer subs or just a whole lot more data. Or time to move up to a dedicated astro-cam perhaps?

A good effort just the same.

Great - well centred, wide enough, good amount of detail!

Great shot, Leon, but I agree with Peter....time to take your talents to the next level and (when you have enough funds) goto using an astrocam

You'll be in the APOD's in no time

Many thanks for your comments guys much appreciated.

Peter, I have to agree, but i kept the subs a bit shorter because the temp was still sitting at about 12 degrees, and my LP limit kicks in at about 7-9 minutes depending which direction i image.

However I will try and get some more subs tonight if the clouds hang on and see if there can't be an improvement.

I have to admit I have never tried this stunt before with the gemini, all is the same as i left it last night, and I intend to fire it up and start again from where i started last night.

Many thanks.

Looks pretty good to me Leon - nice clours and sharp as a Tak - and hanging in that nice wide field.

Leon good shot IMO although in someways I must agree with Peter these short subs for me in particularly are not cutting it as far as SNR goes and LP isn't helping out all. Oh well if only, but we make the best with what we have.

Cheers

Nice result Leon!
With 7 min subs at iso 400 that`s very good!
If you can push it to 10-12 min I think you should get much more from it if your LP lets you that is!

Many thanks guys, for your constructive comments, much appreciated,Gary I know what you mean, and I would like to push it a bit harder, but I reckon my limit on a warm night and LP is about 9 minutes, + -.

Great shot there Leon Nice FOV and judging by what seem to be accepted colours from other imagers it looks faithful to the norm. Well done!

Is your modded camera cooled, or does it just have a filter mod done? .....

Stunning pic for such a faint object. Thanks for some inspiration. I'm sure you've made it look a lot easier than it is Leon.
