Image Capturing Software

I am just about to start down the road of taking images through my Dob with a Toucam and do not have tracking until I can afford an EQ6 or similar.

My next part is setting up the laptop and installing the software for the initial capturing of the images.

I have read bits and pieces here and there about particular programs but being new at this game, I am looking to get the lowdown on what programs are out there and what are their pros & cons.

Thanking you in advance for your help

K3CCDtools is a good place to start (once you've got past amcap). I think you can still get a free version that has image capture capability. I still use it with my Neximage for planet and moon images. Craterlet is another option.
