January snowfall, plus campfire shots from Tasmania

We had a cold front come through on the 2nd January while on holidays in Hobart, which bought some snow to the high peaks. The first images below are from the top of Mt Wellington - this was the first time my youngest had seen snow.

On the same afternoon we headed off camping to the lakes up on the central plateau in Tasmania. This was the first camping trip for my kids, and the cold weather meant sitting by the campfire was a good option! The last 2 images are approx 2 second exposures showing the trails made by sparks as wood was thrown on the fire. This fire was hot enough to melt a couple of empty wine bottles that ended up in the fire!

Cheers,
Stephen

Stephen, great photos.

The central plateau is one of my favourite spots in Tasmania.

It is a great place for camping. I hadn't been up there for years, and had forgotten how nice it is!

Thanks Mike, it was a great trip. I try and get down there to visit my parents every year or 2, and it's always great.

Thanks Trevor. I was surprised how well the sparks came out, and my son was very willing to generate more sparks for me!

Beautiful shots.

I agree with Trevor -- love the long exposure on the fire.
