Moon & Venus
Hi
The Moon & Venus looked great tonight. I tried to take a photo with my Finepix s5500. On automatic on tripod.
Ok I suppose.

Same shot through thin fog from my back paddock. Not as good as Daves though!

Nope! Just turned the flash off and set the exposure for 1 second. Held the camera as still as possible and went 'click'.
As crummy as it is, It seems OK for a little Kodak Digital pocket camera.
David, you probably agree, no photo will do justice to how beautiful it looked with the unaided eye!

This one caught me off guard! Didn't know it was happening until I saw it in progress after the mowing.
Just sneaked in this shot with the Nikon Coolpix 2100 before the clouds rolled all over it.

Awesome shots Robin & Scott. I was wondering what kind of processing you may have overdone to get that jagged edge between the day and night regions on the Moon, but then I realised that the jaggedness simply shows a slice through the rough terrain that is the Moon's surface.

Thanks.
I did minimal processing, just stacked 3 images and stretched the levels a bit to show the Earthshine

Incredible shot Robin! I love the diffraction spikes on Venus.
I had my mother in law call me last night wondering what the bright thing was next to the moon
It was a beautiful sight, one which I didn't even know was coming up!

Nice shots guys...
Funny thing was I got a call about 6:30pm last night from my mum saying she is getting all these emails and phone calls from her friends saying to go outside and look at this bright object beside the moon...."ITS THE SPACE SHUTTLE"
So after I calmed her down and explained to her its just Venus and if you have another look tomorrow night its in about the same position...well she was more excited that she could see a planet so bright visually that the space shuttle story sounded insugnifient....lol
