Worm holes what do you think?

I have heard about them and it seems many folk go with the idea.
I fail to see how one could fold space as suggested..it may be ok you can fold the paper on which you have draw a space time grid but will that nake them real...when you bend space that way what do you do with "the edges"..

So if these clouds dont pass that all I can offer for a chat

read a lecture given by Steven (stephen?) Hawking about wormholes. He thought they might be theoretically possible, but would require egnormous amounts of negative energy - not sure how much, put proberly on the scale of a whole star. What negative energy actually mean #### me, but i think it was required to hold the terminus open and stable, how you would initiate something like that I dont know. Proberly nobody does!

Reading Hawking is a toil, I read his lectures and find a lot of talk but getting some meat is not easy,,,may I suggest you read his stuff on gravity...you feel as if he has offerred a definitive view but ...no meat...in my humble opinion....my point with worm holes was I feel the theory has made a leap without credibility given it seems that they envisage a folding of space in the same way as one would fold a sheet of paper..as I said.,,

AND from there folk have grabbed the idea and off we go again... I think physics deserves a more sensible approach and not put fanciful ideas out there to give the movie industry concepts to promolgate.

Folding space like paper I don't have a problem with because the universe is fluid not static.. however when you fold the paper you still need to tear space to open up such a wormhole...
Maybe as the universe keeps expanding little tears will appear & we will see stuff not previously visible.. would be cool i reckon

So in theory i think they're ok.. but i won't get to see one in my lifetime

Dont be sorry Bert if you feel uncomfortable to a question...any question is ok by me... and I will answer as best I can given my limited knowledge of everything....ask any question you like at all I have no secrets, and no illusions and little respect for accepting stuff such as worm holes in the manner they are presented..I think they are a load of crap just to indicate my view.

I think if there is anything in them someone here will put me on the right track and as usual it worries me little if I am uninformed and can be shown to have a lack of understanding of these things. But it does interest me to hear what others may think... I already know what I think.

If you are asking me who were my masters I never have had one other than my two master solicitors when I was an article clerk in law but there is no one who instructs me in science... and I guess you ask if I have studied under Hawking or similar folk of high regard...and the answer is no.. I did not do science at Uni only high school... but I did do well and wanted a career in science but could only matriculate to Sydney and as you would know you needed to go to Uni of NSW in those days to do science.

Hawkings lectures both to the public and to students are available on the net and he even has a site.

So Bert what do you think about worm holes.
