Photoshop CS3, getting started

Hi All,

I've just purchased a copy of Photoshop CS3. I have never used this software to process Astro Images. Could any users recommend the best Books or Web sites that might get me up and running quickly.

I'm currently processing with Nebulosity and hope Photoshop will increase the quality of my images.

Thanks Geoff

Hi Geoff,
I also am learning so the only advice I can offer is to go to this site as a start as Eric Lowe? post the most amazing photos in Iceinspace under the banner EzyStyles and on his web site he has tutorials that show how he basically processes using photoshop CS2 but a lot of steps are the same. Web site is http://www.ezystyles.com.au/

Good luck. I hope to see some of your images soon

Mark

Hi Geoff,

Photoshop Astronomy by R Scott Ireland is a very good book dedicated to the very program and subject!
http://www.willbell.com/ccd/photoshop_astronomy.htm

Bintel sell it for $69, I can recommend it - uses an image tutorial disk to work through excercises if need be too.

Oh Doug, I have that, its a heavy tomb, R Scott Ireland is indeed an excellent practioner, but fairly advanced and heavy going. Id recommend Ron Wodaskis "Zone System", the bible for starters, and at Bintel.

No worries Fred - I've only seen the sample chapters from the "Zone"

I've downloaded it and wont be installing it until I get the crack for it.

I know that's naughty , but I don't care. I am sick of paying top $ for applications and software that are ALWAYS full of bugs and NEVER turn out being as good as advertised.

Jerry Lodriguss's e-book is great as well. I'd also recommend Scott Ireland's book, followed by the Zone System (opposite order to Fred). Irelnd's book seems to go over the basics a lot better, although it gets deeper as you go into the book.
