ngc 253 plus 300

First chance to image in a long time, melbournes attrocious weather gave a little recently.

shot with the usual..... 12inch newt , g11, qhy8. a bit over 2 1/2 hrs exp.

i think i need to redo my calibration files, theres a bit of a gradient across the bottom... could also be the neighbours lights which need to be on all the time

a full frame resized to 60% (not centred as i used the star in the middle as my guidestar , going to get an Orion X-Y guide adjuster... but no-ones got one in stock at the moment)

the other is a pixel for pixel crop.

thanks for looking.

edit.... just added ngc 300 (same exp details as other images)

Clive.

thanks guys, ive got some data on NGC 300 but will tinker with this one to see if i cant get a better result ( just for the practice) will process that one soon, im rusty due to the cold damp cloudy weather.....

im looking forward to better weather for imaging, its tough on the farmers but at least someone can utilize clear skies.

cheers clive

Awesome Clive! some of the finer details are being resolved in the arms and the core. Colors look spot on and very smooth!
cheers Gary

Glad to see some more from you Clive. As we know only too well the weather hasn't been too kind here and we hope thing improve over the next couple of months. Never experienced so many days and nights of cloud

Top image great detail and loses nothing in the cropped version.

That is a really good NGC 253 Clive, probably the best allround effort posted on here so far this 253 season. You have really nailed the colour balance - lovely. The image is certainly smooth and not that it matters if you after an overall aesthetic image but I can't help but sense some loss of faint fine structure in the noise manipulation..?

The NGC 300 looks great too with plety of detail visible, perhaps just a bit monchromatic (?) but it is indeed a lack luster galaxy generally, without hard colour data and some decorative work it can be a bit dull looking.

Great stuff

Mike
