Windows VISTA - Cehking COM Port assignments

Can anyone assist how I check what the current 'COM ports in use' are being used by?
Im trying to configure the usb-to-serial adapter for my EQ6Pro mount to use COM 4, but it says its already in use, as well as 3, 4, and 5.

Thanks!

Its under control panel, the device manager.
Look at the comports.
It will list what is currently installed.
Check which port is currently assigned to your USB converter, then have a look at what other ports are installed to your other com ports.
If this is the only com port, then just change the port to what ever you want it to be.
One hickup the operating system does is when you install the USB converter, it assigns a port to it. But if you then plug it into another USB port, it will again install it but it will assign it to another com port again. Because it sees that you had already installed another device and so it jumps this port and goes to the next.
Just force it to be com 1 or com 2 and you will be fine, as long as you dont have an actual port physically.

Thx Gama. I've forced it to use COM2 and had no issues as yet.
