Some other birds

Just returned from a week in Qld. Took lots of photos with my recently acquired 20D using a Tamron 70-300 zoom. The autofocus is incredibly quick compared to my superzoom camera. Great for BIF's. Have just started going through what I have, but this one took my eye.

I will post some more later.

A beautiful photo of the Egret in flight – I never ceased to be amazed at how far back their under carriage extends when in flight!

Cheers

Thanks.

I'm going to add more to this occasionally as I process the photos (over 700 all up). Here's a collage put together from a sequence of shots as this ibis was landing.

Maaaatee! that collage is incredible, what camera/lens are you using?

Im amazed that each shot in the sequence is so well focused... Also, what kind of range was the bird at?

Canon 20D I just bought from ezystyles. Cheap $190 f4.5-6.5 70-300mm Tamron lens. The bird would have been about 20-25 metres from memory. The birds were nesting on an island not far away, so there was a steady stream of birds to-ing and fro-ing. Quite a few shots where the focus just missed.

Things that go quack.
One of which proceeded to bite my leg until I fed it.

The penultimate selection, including smiling sheep, shy galahs, barfing birds and devilish cats.

Love the collage, telemarker !!
Well done.
The 20D is a great performer and is no slouch when it comes to continuous shooting at 5fps.

Well done.

As I threatened before, here's the final set.
This Yellow tailed cockatoo dug a large larvae out of the gum tree. It was quite happy for me to get in close to take its photo while it chowed down on the grub. I got to watch the whole exercise of uncovering, extracting and devouring the larvae. I think this would be one of the bird's favoured foods by the way it kept focused on the job while I was stalking it.
