Did you find that the mirror recoating made much difference?

That is a stunning image for a DSLR.....excellent focus and colour reproduction.

Hi Paul, that is a lovely image. The clarity and colour is excellent. The extension of the blue nebulosity looks amazing as well.

Hello Greg,

I think the recoating certainly made a minor improvement. You may be interested to know the reason I needed it recoated.

Recently I purchased a WO 110mm refractor and have been using that to do some wide field imaging for a change.
When I disassembled the GSO 12" from the mount I stood the OTA on it's end so it was facing skyward and then forgot about it for a few months. Then when considering it was time to resurrect the 12" I was horrified to find that something (maybe glue?) has dripped (over time) from the secondary mirror onto the primary mirror and permanently stained the mirror surface. So that's why I had to have the re-coat done. Moral of the story is: never store your GSO pointing skyward?
