moon directly in front of jupiter

According to my computer program 'celestia' the moon will pass directly in front of jupiter tomorrow morning,14th july...would this be correct? (approx time, 2am)

I might do John but you wont see it as the moon will set at around 10:40 tonight. The line and movement look about right though.

Just checked with starry night and yep at 2:40 am it will occult. Wonder where in the world you would see it?????

That puts you approx. halfway between Africa & the west-australian coastline lol....The airport is across the road from me.....

Pity about that. Bad timing/positioning eh? FWIW, Do you have Astronomy 2005 magazine. If you have, just check out the relevant moon/occultation sections for all the MAJOR events. All the hard work has been done by these guys.(Thank You Quasar Publishing). Next significant object is the Pleiades on Nov.16th @ 20.33. This is for Adelaide ppl only. Sydney ppl @ 20.15. etc etc. HTH. L.

I kinda like watching even just bright stars slip behind a dark limb. It's like soneone just turned them off. I'm yet to watch one reappear on a dark limb.

Don't forget the event of 23 September at 1:40. As an aside, it is possible for the Moon (at 0.5 deg) to pass right through the Pleiades without occulting any of the brightest 7.

pps. The important numbers after the date are, Object # = column 1, DD/RD/DB/RB = Disappearance Dark etc etc, Mag = column 3, & PA degrees = column 6.
