The 1 million dollar question was 'what was the name of the first orbiting satellite launched by the U.S.A.' And the correct answer is ....

well Im tougher than a fifth grader, so dont worry about the answer...the tables could turn easily.
(theyre getting a little tough and stringy by the time they reach fifth grade though...a little like stewing beef)

We have a winner folks, it was 'Explorer' I knew the Russian one was Sputnik but could not remember the American one. The contestants answer was "Mercury" close but no million.

Sputnik, never forget that one... and Gagarin landing in a field where apparently the local farmer cowered as he exited his flaming capsule and asked him: "Are you from outer space?"
and he went: "Yup!"
