My first saturn shot with the ToUcam.

Heres my first attempt at saturn, To my eyes the coloring is slightly off but im fairly happy with it...

Tracking it with the dob was a real pain in the backside, especially when compared to tracking jupiter...

This is the processed image from one of 4 avi's captured during a 1hr session..

Cheers.
Alex.

EDIT : Added a re-done version of the same pic with levels adjusted a bit...

Note : Im slightly color-blind, so for me, this is perhaps the hardest part of the entire process.

Hey, not too bad.
You've captured detail on the surface too!.
Bonus points for doing it with no tracking too.

Nice start.
I don't seem to be able to do even that with a GEM.
Well done.

Well done Alex, that's a great Saturn for a dob with no tracking!

On your way!

How do you do the white balance setting?

Thanks guys, Im in the process of sorting out the other few avi's, I'll post up the results afterwards..

Mike, The white balance is automatically controlled via the philips Vlounge software, as yet I've not been able to get k3ccdtools working for me. I noticed after posting that the black level in that image is out by a bit, I'll re-do the levels and replace the image..

Hopefully some of the others are as good.

Cheers.
Alex.

Well done Alex, that's a great start. It is always a thrill to see the rings come up in these early images
