its what ants do...

i think these 2 were plotting a way to get rid of the anoying photographer that was hovering over them

nikon d40, 55mm nikkor micro lens with 3x TC, sigma ef500 dg super flash
shots at f/16.8

Hi Dave

A wonderful macro photo – well done. Tremendous depth of focus and very dynamic to look at.

I just looked at our “Wildlife of Greater Brisbane” book and these ants look too much like the dreaded Red Imported Fire Ant – I really hope that I am totally mistaken and they are not! Could also look like a Red Meat Ant?

i dont think these are fire ants dennis as fire ands are quite small... these are clearly 1 meter long

i dont know what these are but if they were fire ants we'd prolly know about it wouldnt we?

That’s a relief – the fire ants are 2-6mm in length according to our book.
