About the time where the eagle rises. This shot was 6 x 7 minutes exposure at ISO 400 taken at 5:27am 2 weeks ago. last frame was blue already at around 6:15am.
cheers guys thanks for your reply. yes Eric you definitely need a modded DSLR to capture the HA's but an unmodded DSLR can also capture it ok. heres a shot i did awhile back with the unmodded 350D:

Where abouts is that nebula located (constilation)?
Hi Craig,
Though often though of as being in Sagittarius, M16 is in Serpens Cauda (the serpent's tail). M16 is visible in small telescopes to varying degrees. The nebulosity itself doesn't really show until about 6", while the actual "pillars" are visible in an 18" under a _very_ dark sky -- it is, like the horsehead, one of those "Oh my goodness ... " moments
BTW, very fine image Eric. You should be very proud of it!

i know, two things have to learn with the new cam, shoot in RAW and use a 2 x barlow LOL .

You still can shoot it reasonably well with an unmodded DSLR on the Eagle. Actually, the pillars i think looks better with an unmodded as it has a blend of blue/reddish rather than all red with a modded DSLR.

Thanks Gary. me too. It should be arriving next week but i have to setup a few things before capturing first light with it. hope by then it will be clear
