Talking First Jupiter for '08

I finally had the opportunity to image Jupiter "The King" for the first time ever early this morning. This image was shot at 5am on the 7th of March. The seeing was very good and 3 moons were visible at the time.

The DMK was shooting at 60fps with an exposure time of 1/150s with the gain was set fairly high. Overall, I am very happy with the end results and hope there will be many more to come.

I have also included a image of 2 of Jupiter's moons. Callisto and Ganymede.

Thanks for looking.

Nice work Matty. One thing to try, if you're using 60fps then experiment with using 1/60 for the exposure. Using 1/150 means that 60% of the light falling into your camera is lost...

cheers, Bird

Thanks Bird,

I'm not sure that I was using a 1/150s exposure for this image. I remember when using a 1/60s exposure most of the detail was lost.

Thanks for the advice

Ok, no problem, I was just going off the exposure info you give in the original post...

cheers, Bird

The weirdest thing is that the GRS didn't show up on the laptop screen at the time. It is a bonus.
