More Omega Cent

Another try at Omega Cent last night, seeing wasn't great but worth a try. DSI through 150 newt, 30 secs and processed a bit in nebulosity and PSP7.
Definitely need to fit the 10:1 crayford, getting focus with the R&P is too hard.

Nice Omega Cent image - plenty of stars. I had a go at tri-colour imaging this last night for the first time with the DSI IIpro.

In terms of the focuser you should have a look at getting a motor focuser even with the Crayford as it allows you to avoid wobbling the OTA. You won't look back!

Thanks Peter, the time spent on drift alignment is starting to pay off, getting longer exposures.
I'm working on a moto focus at the moment, got it stepping, just need to work out the wiring for the reverse switch.
The crayford is for a 200mm scope so I'll have to make an adapter plate to suit the 150. Then its on to the moto focus.

I retrofitted the Orion Swellfocus motor to my GSO crayford. It's a bit agricultural but works fine. I recently lashed out and got a FCUSB from Shoestring Astronomy to allow better control of the motor speed and pulse length as well as focus control from the laptop. This is now a great combination with very fine focus control.
