Jewel Box

Hi all.
It's been hard going with the weather as it has been here.
Dusty, dusty dusty with lots of wind. Still pretty typical for this time of year in the far west desert/ coast country..

I managed to get out Saturday night and get some lum on
one of my favourite, if not 'the' favourite clusters for me.
Not overly a clusters man.

The RGB data was taken last April and wasn't at all very good as
I didn't have my collimation down very good so there was some
bloat to contend with when I registered the new luminance data.
There is a noticable gradient through out as well as a blue cast
around the central cluster due to the hazy conditions when the
RGB was taken.

Still it was fun to be out again.

I will have to wait till the weather gives me a chance if I want to
get better rgb data,.. once again "the wind she a blowin'" with
cloud every where.

Click on the 'Latest image' from my front page.

Hangin for this weather to improve.

All the best for now

Rich

Lovely Rich, a very spectacular rendition of the Jewel box. It is very sharp and some nice colour throughout.

Cheers

Thanks guys!

Thanks Glen, Ric, Leon, Doug, Eric, Phil, Diets, Rob and Gary for your really nice comments and views.
I can only say that this little cluster lives right up to its name... a jewel in our southern skies.
I use to 'oooh' and 'arrhh' when I was a simple observer through the eye piece.. well, Omega cent use to get a few as well.

The wind is still blowing and I'm a bit PO that it's straight into my observatory..Typical this time of year... the south beasterlies (easterlies)
Too much dust and the air is unsettled so I'll have to wait till this poxy weather pattern takes a hike... usually march, april... ho hum.

Believe me, I'm never far away from flicking the switch & stepping outside into the office... just the conditions I want are usually in Autumn, winter or spring... I can almost forget about summer and its wind... almost!

Good you guys are at it and producing some great images... I'm always taking a peak on this site to see what 's been imaged.

So keep it up helps ease my blues

All the best
Rich
