Comet Tuttle 8P still going.

Hi
Comet Tuttle 8P is still holding up nicely. Was faintly visible in viewfinder still.
10 x 2 mins ISO800. Modded 350D 10 inch f5.6 newtonian. Off axis guided on guidestar using q guider putting star on pc screen and myself manually using fast/slow buttons to track the star. Subs short enough to avoit too much comet trailing. Stacked and aligned on comet.

Nice image Scott,
I'm sure it's not the processing, but why do they appear so green?
Do you have a Dec motor?
If you extend the cables you could sit inside watching TV.

Thanks Jeff
I find all comets either appear green (if gassy) or yellow if dusty. I think the gas emmissions are emissionline mostly and probably is "seen" my mostly only the green pixels in the camera. Most other comets also appear the same colour except the dusty ones like the great comet Mnaught of 07 and Comet Holmes.

In the days of film, the gas emmissions of comets always appeared blue on the Kodak print films I used to use.

No I havent got a dec motor, though ive toyed with the idia of putting some sort of small motor and gearbox onto the dec adjuster.

Excellent shot Scott.
Love the distinctive green colour.
It's very characteristic of these gaseous comets to appear green when digitally imaged.

Not a bad effort Scott, green or not, it was a good pick on your part, well done.

Actually, I was planning to pay it a another visit myself, but the clouds are rolling in...

Below is a quick CdC map for Thu 31 Jan 22:15, for Belgrave. On previous occasions I found large binos the best way to view it, so if you happen to have any at hand...
