Ngc 1313

Hello,

This is my first image posting for this group. I prefer to image objects that are not on the beaten track.

NGC 1313 is a distorted barred spiral.

Imaged with a BRC-250 and ST-10XME. 80m L, 20m R, 20m G, 20m B RGB binned 2 X 2.

Nice image Steven.
I have often seen this on the maps but overlooked it.
I'm inspired to have a go at it when the sky clears and darkens.

Nice image, Steven ! But on my monitor the galaxy looks a bit "isolated" from the background (perhaps you've used a mask and lowered the background level a little bit). Otherwise the galaxy looks great.

Excellent image, Steven! Very unusual, and great to see something out of the ordinary.

Love to see more!

This object has a faint envelope which required stretching to be seen clearly Unfortunately it also highlighted a strong gradient for the G exposure caused by the filter being miscentered on the chip. I processed out the gradient which may have led to what you observe, although it is not obvious from my monitor.

Steven

The 45 degree spikes are diffraction spikes, vertical spikes are from the microlens used on the ST-10XME and the near horizontal spikes are probably reflections.
