I was going to wait a while longer but it seems with the moon on the rise and melbournes weather going wet, nows a good a time as any.
image 1 is the core of m42 and m43 , a part of a project in midstream a mosaic of m42 (image 2)currently requiring more data particularly the lower half of the pic, the weather and work commitments will probably see this on finished in January.i have overused unsharp masking slightly to bring out the detail in the wispy sections, i will re-edit this from scratch when more data is available as i would like to push it fairly hard.
image 3 is the well known carinae nebula, 10x subs 3min on 12 inch newt.
image 4 is a section of the large magellanic clouds core, not a brilliant pic but interesting for all the small globular clusters in it.
image 5 is a pixel for pixel crop of ngc 1769 (the one to lower left) also in the large magellanic cloud
finally image 6 ngc 1365
all images were taken with the g11 and 12 inch newt and a minimum of 7 exposures usually at 6 min. The orion shots are subs of 360 sec going down in one stop increments to 5 seconds
A pleasing showcase of images Alchemy. Enjoyed the m42 mosaic with the interesting core. Almost looks narrowband compared to a conventional RGB composite. Keep it up.
Jase....i wondered what people would make of it (m42) thanks for your comment, the section in the core was down to 5 sec to try to capture as many stars in the trapezium as possible, i only wish i could get the detail that is possible with a quality ccd chip and narrowband.
Rumples.... i am pleased with what ive got, the spiral came out better than i had expected, it was done on 1st dec and the seeing was quite good.
Ezystyles....im always on the lookout for interesting and different objects, to mix in with the well known. theres still a few interesting nebula left in the clouds i havent yet looked at.
Barb and David.... Glad you liked it, by putting up a few images theres bound to be something for everyone.the 1365 image was 16 exposures at 6 minutes, plus flats and darks which allows a few more faint things to come through.
Ric.... thanks, ive put up a bit of everything for this one.
Ken.... canon digitals 350 and modded 300 (ezystyles old camera) i saw that little nebula it almost looked green to me, sadly they are too small for me to get detail.the cloud shot was the 350d with 6 min exposures.
Mike... first let me say thanks for a place to display these images..., sitting on them for a little while gave me a chance to play with the processing, and putting up a bunch together means the not so glamorous ones get a shot too. i may not have another installment til after the holiday break as i will be away from the scope, but i'll pop in for a look.

Well I was impressed Alchemy - I'm sure I can see elongation of A and C towards E and F respectively. Am I right?

i have to show my ignorance with their designations but i reckon i can claim 6 stars , ive posted the 5 sec data i used for the core, listing them as i see it.
thanks for looking eric.
