thumbs up to the argo navis

what a great little bit of kit

Pete from sdm helped me set it up a week ago but tonight was the first time I actually tried to use it properly due to clouds. Did a 2 star align with a illuminated 12mm on canopus and achernar (as I only wanted to do stuff in south and east directions of sky) and after that it landed objects just a fraction off centre in the 7mm nagler which i thought was pretty impressive given a reasonable power eyepiece.

I'd like to have motors for goto, but you can still push your scope to the object pretty darn quick reading the hand controller

I realise I am a few years behind on this but this is my first scope with a argo

Thanks for the post and welcome to the extended family of Argo Navis owners.

It was great that Peter Read was able to assist.

If you haven't done so already, don't forget there is also an Argo Navis forum at
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/argo_navis_dtc

We wish you many fabulous nights under the stars.

Best Regards

After years of happily star-hopping eventually the objects got fainter and harder to find and I got older and all the bending to and from the eyepiece to the star atlas got a bit beck breaking. So I bit the bullet and finally got an Argo Navis. It's fantastic. It's so much more than digital setting circles - it's a computer with so much useful information at your fingertips.
