My first try at CCD Imaging with an 8" F5.6 on an EQ6 mount, DSI Pro with IR filter. Around 12 images each stacked in Registack. Seeing was average, focus could be better.
Here is my effort (Hope you don't mind Alexander )
Composite image showing both states - the left hand side is normal, right side has simply had the deinterlacing done as above, no further processing at all. I left Photoshop's default settings in place for the deinterlace filter.
The capture program I use (Nebulosity) has this function also.
I think it is do with how the data is read from the CCD.... apparently much worse with shorter exposures too. Succeeds in the frustration department though! What gets me is why Meade doesn't automatically deinterlace it for you....
When they were first released I was a member of a DSI yahoo group. The
interlaced problem touted there was. It went something like this, with the
DSI it scans it data twice per image like scanning odd lines first then goes
back and scans the even numbered lines. The problem with interlacing
starts to appear at short exposures like needed for luna and planetary
imaging. Thats not to say there haven't been some fantastic images
of luna and planetary objects, hence the o'l deinterlacing in PS works
a treat.
Thanks all for your kind remarks. Hope to have my 10" F6 going withing a couple of weeks and do a bit better
As to the tip on de-interlacing in photoshop - THANKS - took a while before I understood what you meant.
To be honest, I didn't notice any lines at first, old age and bad eyesight, until a mate said something along the lines that he would find out how to get rid of the lines, What lines I said
But after all you bods mentioned lines I enlarged the image on the LCD monitor and saw what you meant.
did you have a satellite go through too? got this weird line through the image also. Although satellites tend to look like black blobs on a lit moon.
What line are we talking about now ??? Can't remember a satelitte.
Have played around with some crummy images in Registack and found some images with lines in it which I put down to stacking error. Not enough alignment points.
